Why Upgrade to Tankless?
Traditional tank water heaters keep 40–50 gallons hot around the clock, wasting energy even when no one is home. Tankless (on-demand) heaters fire only when you turn on the hot water tap, delivering continuous hot water at a lower energy cost.
For Sonoma County households tired of cold showers, high gas bills, or a water heater taking up half the garage, going tankless is one of the best upgrades you can make.
Tankless Benefits
- Endless hot water — no more running out mid-shower
- Energy savings — a real reduction in water heating costs
- Longer lifespan — 15–20+ years vs. 8–12 for tank heaters
- Space savings — wall-mounted unit frees up floor space
- Reduced risk of water damage — no 50-gallon tank to rust and fail
Is a Tankless Water Heater Right for a Santa Rosa Home?
Most Santa Rosa homes are a good fit, but three things decide it. First, gas supply: many older homes in Roseland, Bennett Valley and downtown were plumbed with a gas line sized for a tank heater and a furnace, and a tankless unit often needs a larger line or a dedicated run, which we check on the free assessment. Second, hot water demand: a household running two showers and a dishwasher at once needs a unit sized for that flow, or two units in series. Third, water quality: Santa Rosa’s water is moderately hard, so an annual descaling service keeps the heat exchanger efficient and the warranty intact. Our plumbers size the unit to your home, pull the City of Santa Rosa permit, and handle the descaling on a schedule so you never think about it.
If a tankless unit is not the right call for your house, we will say so and quote a high-efficiency tank heater instead. Either way you get a written estimate before any work starts.
